My Winter Wardrobe: Gilet

My Winter Wardrobe This winter I have decided to start a new series on my blog called My Winter Wardrobe. I will be posting outfit and style ideas with one winter staple as the center each time. For this post my gilet is the winter wardrobe pick. I always wanted a gilet for many years but I never wanted to take the plunge and purchase the one I wanted from Jack Wills as I never knew if I could pull of such a piece. I also never fancied the look of the cheaper versions from places like primark and new look. Since starting work, and finding myself with a bit of extra cash to spend, I thought I would take the plunge and buy the gilet. Ever since I've bought it I cannot stop wearing it. I absolutely love it. It is such a good piece for the transition period between seasons and perfect when paired with a thick jumper underneath as you don't feel cold at all. My favorite bit however has to be the large furry hood. Nothing beats how warm that makes you feel on a cold and wet Monday morning when you have to force yourself out of bed for work! Enjoy these outfit ideas:
The first outfit was on a spontaneous day trip to Cambridge. I found a gorgeous foresty area near a river and stopped to take a few photos and enjoy the scenery. I wore a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and a slightly long top with leopard print and sequin details. I paired this with a jumper from TRF at Zara which has a yogi bear print on it. The Boots were my uggs. The jumper and the boots help to keep you warm with the gilet. I loved this outfit for a casual weekend day out and about in town. I kept the colors fairly neutral with this outfit, so that the gilet would not clash, in contrast to the second outfit. In the second outfit I kept the gilet as a jacket piece and did not match or formulate the rest of the outfit around the gilet. I wore a pair of skinny jeans again however this time with a red and black spotted peplum jersey top from asos and a red jumper from jack wills. I love the combination of navy and red and this was my casual take on it. I wore this with a thick black and red scarf and my uggs again. Another comfortable, stylish and casual weekend outfit. Stay tuned for more winter wardrobe pieces. I plan on doing some posts with winter scarfs, boots and coats as well as other accessories. AP

My Day In Town

Today and tomorrow are my last two days in Cambridge before I head off to start work. I spent the morning and most of the afternoon in town today and had a lovely day by myself. Today, my shopping trip really didn't have much purpose, apart from needing some tights for work I didn't have a list so I was looking forward to meandering around town and exploring little boutique shops I might not have seen before. I enjoy observing people, getting fashion inspiration and just relaxing.

I started off my day with a massage at the Clarins Skin Spa attached to John Lewis in the Grand Arcade Mall here in Cambridge. It was my first time at any Clarins Skin Spa and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. The re-balancing massage was perfect and I will definitely be going back for more treatments.

After my massage I had a chance to browse through the makeup and I was told about an offer, if you purchase 2 items you get 3 almost full size items for free, and you get to choose those from a selection of 6 items. I say almost full size because they are 10 mls less than full size. I was then told that if you add in an additional purchase you get a full sized body lotion and full size hand and nail cream for free as well. So as you guys can probably tell, I got sucked in

. I've got pictures, descriptions and first impressions down below so keep reading. As I spend more time using these products I will make sure to do some more detailed reviews.

The first thing I was drawn to while browsing the makeup section was the bronzer. I have so many powder bronzes which have shimmer in them which just don't sit right on the face especially for work. This color is not too orange or muddy, its just the perfect color to bring some color to the face and will continue to be a perfect bronzer even when the cooler weather arrives. On first impressions, the consistency of the powder is beautiful and soft, the warmth is gives is gorgeous and very build-able. I can see myself using this very regularly.

The second thing I picked up was the instant light perfecter for lips. I have been interested in this for a very long time but never picked one up because none of the Clarins counters I went to had a shade that suited me. I was so happy to find this brown shade which looks very nude on my lips. A few weeks ago I purchased a mac lipstick called touch which has a lustre finish. This lipstick is the perfect nude color for my pigmented lips and I bought it for work. Since then I have been looking for a gloss to match and I think I have found the perfect one. The applicator is great, it's soft, applies evenly and applies a good layer of color. I also found that its easy to apply without a mirror. Loving this at the moment and excited to try it out more.

Lastly, I picked up the beauty flash balm. This product has been around for so long and has been raved about by a lot of yotubers and bloggers. I have never personally tried this product but since work is looming on the horizon I was interested in a brightening and hydrating balm which would also act as a makeup primer. Being a junior doctor is not a very glamorous job, it involves very little sleep and very little personal time so products which multitask are always appreciated.

Lastly, this is a picture of the freebies that I got. I haven't experimented with these much so I wont be able to comment on them just yet. Hopefully will have full reviews on the blog soon.

I'm really interested to know what you guys think about Clarins products or if you have ever had any of their spa treatments. Let me know in the comments below.

Thanks for reading

Welcome To My Closet

WELCOME TO A DOCTOR'S CLOSET

As a fashion/clothing/makeup obsessed soon to be junior doctor (only one more week of blissful ignorance left!!) I have decided that writing a blog about these somewhat superficial but wonderfully stress-free topics will be just what the doctor ordered to recover from the hectic days at the hospital.

I hope to do loads of posts about monthly favorites, outfits of the days, things I'm loving at the moment and loads more so stay tuned.

This is what my mornings look like usually, a mad dash to get loads of makeup on and look slightly presentable while constantly watching the time and trying to have my cup of tea at the same time!!

This is one of my favorite pairs of jeans or jeggings. I got these at Dorothy Perkins and they were good quality for the price. I think they may still be available in different colors on the website and in store. I love how they look with a chunky white sweater and these gorgeous leopard flats, a perfect in between the seasons outfit which I will reach for again during the transition from summer to fall.

This is a lovely Maybelline vivid lipstick in neon red. I love this red shade and the fact that it has some gloss and really brightens up my skin tone. Red lips always make your teeth look whiter, whats there not to love about that!!

That is all for now guys, thanks for reading. Stay tuned for the next post in a few days.
Lots of love,
A Pat
